Abstract.
The article analyzes the scientific works of the first Yakut folklore scientist G. U. Ergis on Yakut fairy tale plots systematization. The significance of works and scientist’s contribution to the Russian folklore studies are considered. In particular, G. U. Ergis specified the boundaries of the fairy tale genre, considered fairy tale existence in the Yakut everyday life, singled out the main groups of fairy tales, their images and content, and also gave the history of collecting fairy tales, their publication and translation in the Soviet and pre-Soviet period.
