Abstract. The objective of this paper is to describe the universal and culture-national space in the proverbial stock of the Russian and English linguistic worldview. The analysis objects are the varieties of social oppositions into which an individual came in the process of his/her relationship with the environment through in the light of conceptual reconstruction and semantic analysis. The classification of proverbs is constructed from the point of psycholinguistic approach.
