Abstract.
The article considers the meaning of decadence sentiments and their role in the formation of public conduct. The attention is given to the detection of ulterior motives which lead to the emergence of crisis sentiments in the society. The place of literature in the formation of social conscience is analyzed. The factors without which no transient phenomenon happens in society are considered.
