SCHWANK AS GENRE IN GERMAN HUMOR CULTURE OF THE XV-XVI CENTURIES AND ITS PRAGMATIC ASPECT

Abstract.
This article reveals the concept of humor culture, the specific character of this aspect of West European culture during the epoch of the Middle Ages and Renaissance is described, the peculiarities of a person’s worldview in the period under study are considered to research thoroughly the representation of comic phenomenon in the genres of folk humor culture. The main attention is given to the description of the peculiarities of the German prosaic schwank, its relation to the other literary genres of the humor culture is studied and the specific character of its pragmatics is stated.
