Abstract. The article discovers the conception of “media war” and analyzes the methods of fighting media war in mass media. Methods of media confrontation are most easily observed on the basis of ethnical conflicts. The author chooses Kosovo conflict (the separation of Kosovo from Serbia on a unilateral basis in 2008) as an example. Under analysis are the publications dedicated to the elections in this region, from “Rossiiskaya Gazeta” and “Washington Post”. The researcher evaluates the style of presenting the materials, criteria of selecting facts and compositional originality.
