Abstract.
The article tries to investigate the representation of the problem of hypocrisy in the high comedies of J. B. Molière and in the comedy of A. S. Griboyedov “Woe From Wit”. Summarizing the results of the research the author identifies the typical features of hypocrite in the mentioned works. Describing the typical characteristics, the author takes into consideration both the peculiarities of writers’ artistic method and specifics of society development in France and Russia.
