Abstract.
The article presents the scientific commentary of the results of the terminological specialization process of the word “player” that is in general use in the Russian language at the present stage, which are reflected in the language of newspaper social and political journalism; the brief lexical-semantic and functional-stylistic analysis of the correspondent word unit both in terminological and non-terminological functions is presented.
