Abstract.
The subjects of the romantic written dastans originate in the literary sources. The author considers the Tatar folk version of the dastan about Leila and Madzhnun as a literary whole performing the role of a connector between the individual and traditional typical principles. The researcher on the basis of the presented examples reveals the folkloric essence of the Tatar written dastans.
