THE NOVEL BY F. M. DOSTOYEVSKY “DEMONS” AS A METAPHOR OF THE UNDERWORLD

Abstract.
The article from the new methodological positions presents the linguistic description of the creative methaphorics by F. M. Dostoyevsky manifesting itself in the central and peripheral characters of the novel “Demons”, in particular in the image of the “principle demon” Nikolai Stavrogin. Investigation of Dostoyevsky’s Christian creative work from the metaphorical viewpoint is an innovation in modern philology and can become another instrument for the interpretation of the writer’s world perception and, consequently, a new method for interpreting the final works of the writer.
