MAGIC REALITY" IN THE SHORT STORIES OF ALASDAIR GRAY

Abstract.
In the article the short stories of the Scottish writer of the XX century Alasdair Gray in the context of magic realism are considered. The material for the analysis is works which are the part of the previously uninvestigated collection «The Unlikely Stories, Mostly». The author studies the indistinctness of the boundaries of real and fantastic in the artistic reality of the short stories in conditions of renunciation of traditional ideas about the possibility of entitative reality existence. As a result of the analysis the main methods of making a magic reality and its characteristic features in the short stories of the mentioned collection are revealed.
