Abstract.
The article is devoted to the functional-semantic analysis of toponyms, the detection of their role in the formation of linguistic spatial picture in the context of N. A. Durova's autobiographical prose. In the work the key toponyms which represent open space of a literary text are analyzed. The authors also focus on the revelation of the features of similarity and difference in the individual author's perception of the toponyms Moscow and St. Petersburg in the discourse of "The Cavalry Maiden: Journals of a Russian Officer in the Napoleonic Wars".
