Abstract.
The article considers the specifics of translating a figurative vocabulary of the Yakut language into the English language. The author presents a brief survey from the history of studying the figurative words, analyzes the views of A. I. Kulakovsky on the problem and dwells on L. N. Kharitonov’s classification of the figurative vocabulary of the Yakut language. The researcher examines certain examples of translating figurative words by the material of translation of the Yakut olonkho into the English language.
