Abstract.
The article touches on the folk realities, the influence of folk motives on national colouring in the works of Azerbaijanian writers of the modern period. On the basis of the examples from the fiction the author analyzes the common and distinctive features of the poetics of the modern prose and such genres as parables, dastans, tales. The researcher makes conclusions about the role of folk motives as a source of national colouring in the modern Azerbaijanian prose.
