Abstract.
The article discusses the importance of students’ independent research work for the formation of communicative competence while studying the discipline “Russian language and culture of speech” in the process of choosing a subject, working with literary sources, writing, defending, summarizing the results of a research, integrating the efforts of a teacher and a student.
