Abstract.
The article is devoted to the consideration of the phenomenon of a doll in the literature of the ХIХ-ХХI centuries. Special attention is paid to the author’s transformation - a romantic from of E. T. A. Hoffmann, modernist of A. Grin, post-modernist of D. Rubina - of the plot about the hero’s love to a doll. Emphasizing the idea of life mechanization danger - the subordination of the overall progress in the course of being to the winding mechanism, in this context, the image of a doll is interpreted as the embodiment of the origin that is soulless and hostile to human organics.
