Abstract. A cognitive-semantic approach allows considering the dramatic changes in cultural norms that occurred in the United States in the 1960s as a result of changes in cognitive processes. On the one hand, as a result of diffusion of the cluster and idealized cognitive models prototypical effects appeared, which led to a breakdown of social stereotypes that resulted in the cultural and historical changes regarding racial and gender roles. On the other hand, the openness of essentially controversial concepts allows adapting the traditionalist views on morality to changing conditions.
