APHORISM AS SPEECH GENRE: STAGES OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT (BY THE MATERIAL OF THE GERMAN LANGUAGE)

Abstract.
The present study is devoted to search for the answer to the question about the reasons of aphorisms popularity in speech during the centuries of their existence. The author describes seven stages of historical formation of aphorisms as a genre, compares the types of the genre with each other and reveals the features of formation of the structure and content of wise sayings in the German language, accompanying the characteristics with illustrative examples.
