Abstract.
The article is devoted to investigating the gender peculiarities of the perception of the images “woman” and “man” in the linguistic consciousness of the female and male groups of the American respondents by the results of free associative experiment. In associative fields including the most frequent responses the author identifies the dominance of the general and positive psycholinguistic characteristics of the images of woman and man as well as the high level of gender equality.
