MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN BIOTECHNOLOGICAL ONE-COMPONENT TERMS

Abstract.
The article considers the structural characteristics of English and Russian biotechnological terms. It shows the ways of formation of biotechnological one-component terms, provides data concerning the prevailing ways of terms’ formation in both languages. The article comes to the conclusion that English biotechnological terminology outruns the Russian one and is often a source of borrowings for the latter. Both Russian and English biotechnological one-component terminologies are based on the Latin and Greek origins and demonstrate extreme similarity in morphology and semantics.
