Abstract. In the article the concept “conscience”, that is a unit of social and cultural meaning for which it is necessary to identify the means of its linguistic representation, is studied. The author describes the compound lexemes which contain the component “Gewissen” in contexts of German philosophers. The use of the concept «Gewissen» is considered in the language of German philosophy (I. Kant, L. Feuerbach, M. Heidegger).
