EVALUATION OF LISTENING SKILLS IN THE EARLY HISTORY OF THE LANGUAGE TESTING IN THE USA

Abstract.
In the article the results of the study of language listening tests evolution in the first half of the XX century in the USA are presented. The problems of formation and development of the methods of listening skills control in the early history of language testing are considered. The author discusses the results of searches of testers, the logic of development of control methods, the current state of language testing and forecasts the ways of its improvement in the future.
