Abstract. The article reveals the language and literary mechanisms of representing the evolution of the individual’s emotional intelligence by the example of the protagonist in the novel “Flowers for Algernon” by D. Keyes. The authors suggest considering the literary discourse in terms of the direct relationship between the level of emotional and general intelligence and range of language mechanisms and stylistic means of different levels for the representation of the individual’s emotional state.
