ON THE PROBLEMS OF GENRE ANALYSIS OF THE NEWS MEDIA-TEXTS

Abstract.
The article aims to reveal the reasons for the problems while identifying functional and stylistic peculiarities and genres of the modern media. The paper examines and compares genre classifications adopted in the Russian and English scientific literature. The author reveals the specifics of structure of the media-texts and approaches to investigating them. On the basis of the analysis of the news programs of the foreign TV channels the researcher proves the possibility to identify genre and stylistic affiliation of the media-texts from the viewpoint of media-linguistics.
