Abstract.
The article is devoted to analyzing the image of a Mari woman in the everyday space of post-revolutionary time in the stories by D. Orai “By the will of the parents” and I. Lombersky "Maytuk”. For the first time the author tries to reveal the specifics of gender representation of the Mari ethno-identity in the prose of the 1920s by identifying motive and figurative codes registering the chronotopic perception of a woman and level of attachment of her consciousness to the cultural and everyday space of the old and new time.
