LITERARY INTERPRETATION OF THE FOLKLORE IMAGE OF THE FOOL IN M. YE. SALTYKOV-SHCHEDRIN’S CREATIVITY

Abstract.
In the article the comparative analysis of the image of the fool in the folklore and literary text by the example of the fairy tale of the same name by M. Ye. Saltykov-Shchedrin is given. The author expresses the view that the main difference of the literary interpretation of the fool image is the lack of tests to overcome which a hero demonstrates a deep morality and commitment to cultural traditions. This is due to the fact that in the writer’s creativity most fool’s images cannot collect the strength to resist the immoral world (Ivan) or they are devoid of morality initially (the Golovlyovs).
