Abstract.
The article discusses the peculiarities of emergence and axiological direction of "Dutch" xenonyms in the English language - language units denoting artifacts of the Netherlands culture or stereotypical judgments about the traits of the national character of this country inhabitants borrowed in the process of the intercultural interaction of the British and the Dutch. Xenonyms are analyzed as lexical units, in the motivations of which the knowledge about the habitat of the "other" ethnicity, history of its development, material and spiritual values, as well as the distinctive features of the communicative behaviour of its representatives is reflected.
