Abstract.
The article examines the functioning of fantastic elements in the works by the modern Austrian writer Barbara Frischmuth “Die Mystifikationen der Sophie Silber”, “Die Frau im Mond”. Genre peculiarity of these works is based on the traditions of the classical Austrian literature. The author presents a summarized description of a genre of fantastic literature and analyzes Frischmuth’s works in this context.
