Abstract.
The article examines the problem of interaction of toponyms in the area of German-Slavic linguistic contacts. By the material ofGerman and Sorbian toponyms the author provides comparative semantic analysis of topo-bases, identifies the common features in the process of origin of geographic names conditioned by the common physical-geographical and cultivated environment with the communicating nations.
