ANTHROPOMORPHIC METAPHOR IN THE ENGLISH TERMINOLOGICAL SYSTEM OF STRUCTURAL GEOLOGY

Abstract.
In the article the idea of anthropomorphic metaphor in terminology of structural geology is developed. The present research makes it possible to assume that the anthropomorphic metaphorization is one of the most productive ways of the new terms formation in the geological discourse. In particular, it was revealed that metaphorized terms formation process is based on the cognitive transfer of lexemes denoting the structure of human body, man’s vital processes and everyday life to a specialized branch of science regarding either external or functional similarity between objects of source field and target field.
