Abstract.
The article examines the problem of origin, functioning and evolution of political power by the example of the novel of the little known in the national literary criticism German author F. Fuhmann “Prometheus: Die Titanenschlacht”. The researcher aims to reveal the originality of combining mythological and realistic elements in the novel and concludes that myth is capable of realistic representation of the most complicated social processes of modernity. During the analysis the researcher touches on the typical for the political power phenomena, such as: separation of powers, despotism, intrigue, bureaucracy et al.
