Abstract. The article analyzes informative and narrative texts for reading in the native language in the context of secondary education exam in England: General Certificate of Secondary Education, English Language Unit 1: Section A Reading. According to the author, the structure of examination text influences immediately both the type of task suggested to the applicant and its complexity.
