ON THE GENRE SPECIFICITY OF THE AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL SERIES OF BOOKS BY N. G. GARIN-MIKHAILOVSKY

Abstract.
The article deals with the issues of genre and plotline organization of N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky’s tetralogy “Tyoma's Childhood “, “Gymnasia Pupils“, “Students”, and “Engineers”. The author analyzes the logic of the conception of these books and describes the type of narrative structure, used by the writer for his poetic self-expression. The opinion that the book of Garin-Mikhailovsky is a modification of the family chronicle as well as the idea that the tetralogy is a structure of the novel type are disputed. In the series the autobiographical principles dominate. At the same time the type of artistic self-objectivation is not of event but of subject-personal nature. N. G. Garin-Mikhailovsky updates the genre structure of auto-narration due to the significant expansion of the parameters of the social environment around the hero of the series.
