Abstract.
The article reveals the specificity of the concepts “death” and “dead body” in their antinomian relations with the spiritual principle by the material of one of the works of N. Gaiman, a recognized classical author in the fantasy genre. In the story “The Graveyard Book” we see the human body in all sorts of projections and metamorphoses. An attempt is undertaken to prove that the above concepts, being the representation of cultural and social-historical norms, bear a great meaning, turning from an object to a subject of the action.
