MEANS OF VERBALIZATION OF THE CONCEPT “FIRE” IN OLD ENGLISH

Abstract.
The article considers the lexical means of representation of the Old English concept “fire”. In the analysis of the Old English literature sources and dictionaries the author of the article finds out that the Old English concept “fire” was verbalized by ten words with different roots. The article shows that each of them represented a certain type of fire. Such a variety tells about the special role of this concept in the culture of the people and in the minds of speakers.
