Abstract. The article studies how writer G. Cherchesov forms his conception of a man in the novel. The writer gives the ideal of an active, life-asserting personality, for which the desire to make the world better, more “comfortable” for a man is the main raison of existence, as well as the approval of the principles of reason, justice and happiness. G. Cherchesov subtly analyzes the tradition of Ossetians, closely related to the social conditions of their lives and the distinctive features of the national character.
