IDEAL OF MAN AND SERVICE TO SOCIETY IN MODERN FANTASY LITERATURE

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the ideal of a man and his service to society in the modern fantasy literature. The relation of the fantasy genre and the ideal as such is considered, and the signs, basing on which we can talk about the ideological world of the work, are identified. As the specific modern features of the ideal the authors reveal its fundamental antidogmatism, the multiplicity of social development, the free choice of service object (the group representing the socium for the subject), and the intention to sense-creation. The ideal of a hero is deprived of the features of perfection and is not marked by any particular pathos.
