Abstract.
The article reveals the peculiarities of the French theatrical staging of the novel “The Brothers Karamazov” by F. M. Dostoyevsky conducted by the playwrights J. Copeau and J. Croue (1911). The comparative analysis of the novel text and the French scenario allows revealing the methods of the novel adaptation to theatrical conditions. The necessity of the research of the foreign-language dramatizations of works of fiction in the framework of studying the reception of the foreign-culture text is actualized.
