Abstract.
In the article the professional newspaper activity of M. Bulgakov in the 20s is considered, the attempt to identify the value of “small” genres in the formation of original artistic talent of the writer is made. In journalism the foundations of the creative personality were laid, the artistic techniques were perfected, the aesthetic principles of Bulgakov got approval. This conditioned the author's desire to give special attention to the genre specificity issues, the problems, the peculiarities of the poetics of Bulgakov's “flash newspaper fiction” (by the example of the essay “Kyiv-City”).
