Abstract.
The article touches on the problem of using culturally adequate translation of a piece of poetry as a means which allows understanding the specifics of the target culture. The author presents the analysis of the translations of R. Frost’s poem made by the bearers of the Russian and American cultures. Such an approach allows understanding another culture in its own coordinate system and avoiding extrapolation of value conceptions of the native culture while perceiving the product of another culture.
