ON VARIATION OF PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS OF LITERARY ORIGIN

Abstract.
The linguistic analysis of the variants of phraseological units, dating back to F. Schiller’s popular expressions, is conducted. The reasons of their variation are revealed, and the number of varying turns - 15% of the units under study is ascertained. The productive methods of varying process - lexical and grammatical - are determined. The specificity of variation of phraseological units of literary origin is ascertained: it contributes to the loss of associations with the poetic source and facilitates their transition into the folk phraseology.
