Abstract.
The article is devoted to the description of the specificity of expressing the category “sympathy” (condolence, consolation), and to the analysis of stereotype speech means used by the native speakers of the Lezghian and Russian languages to express sympathy and compassion. In this scientific article the authors consider the ways of expressing condolences in linguistic traditions of the compared languages, and note the distinguishing features of the given traditional formulae which are identical for the Russian and Lezghian languages.
