Abstract.
The article analyzes word formative models containing suffix -x. The author touches on the semantic structure of the mentioned suffix taking into consideration its origin from the bound root morpheme -хы-. The paper identifies the variants to preserve etymological meaning, describes the semantic shifts of the word formative affixes associated with the broadening of their spatial meanings up to the transformation of a derivative into a homonym.
