TYPES OF EVENTS AND THEIR ROLE STRUCTURE

Abstract.
The article considers such a category of cognitive linguistics as a “state of affairs”, which are divided into events and non-events. The duration and the process act as the main characteristics of the event. Events and activities are classified according to the direction and ontological status. The role structure of the main roles of event that can be simple or compound is presented by the example of graphs. A specially created artificial meta-language is used for this purpose. Then the hierarchy of such situational roles as causer, causative, mediator, etc. is analyzed and described.
