ON THE ESSENCE OF CULTURAL MEMORY OF THE WORDS AND POSSIBILITIES TO IDENTIFY IT (COMPARATIVE ASPECT)

Abstract.
The article presents a survey of the existing views on the essence of such conception as “cultural memory”, introduces a definition of cultural memory of the words and provides comparative analysis of the frequent words of gratitude of the two related languages - English and Russian. On the basis of the results of comparing the etymology of these words the author concludes on the cultural memory of the words presenting an act of gratitude in the Indo-European pra-base. The paper identifies the specifics of information stored in the cultural memory of the compared words transferring the expression of gratitude in each of the mentioned languages.
