Abstract.
The article examines genre peculiarities of the small prose by S. Maugham by the example of the short stories from the collection “Cosmopolitans”. The author focuses on genre transformations resulting from the developing in the literature of the XX century process of intermediality and the use of motives typical for the modern and classical Renaissance short story.
