Abstract.
The paper is devoted to Y. M. Nagibin’s story "Daphnis and Chloe of the epoch of the cult of personality, voluntarism and stagnation" (1994). The research focuses on the connection of the reflective fragments of the work with the author's pastoral search. It is stated that the metadescription plays the genre-forming role in the story. It is emphasized that the author, depicting the present, didn’t only orient to Longus’s novel "Daphnis and Chloe", but also directly discussed his creative choice in the narration.
