Abstract.
The article deals with the peculiarities of the use of national proper names in the meaning of common nouns in the Russian argot. The author identifies the categories of onomastic vocabulary turning into common slang expressions, analyzes the types of antonomasia in the substandard level and reveals the changes in the connotation of the derivatives caused by the specificity of world outlook of the argot speakers. Such ways of formation of common slang expressions as the phonetic mimicry and the use of representative names are considered on the basis of proper names.
