A CONCEPTUAL METAPHOR IN JAPANESE TRANSLATIONS OF THE BOOK OF PSALTER

Abstract. The article is devoted to a conceptual metaphor in the Japanese translation of the Book of Psalter based on the texts of two contemporary translations of the Bible into the Japanese language. Special attention is paid to the semantic content of a conceptual metaphor, the context of usage and interpretation of trope in the original, and also adequacy of its reflection by means of the Japanese language. The main subject of investigation is the impact of a religious and cultural discourse on language, features of artistic expressiveness and idioms.
