“THE QUIET SHELTER”: TO THE SEMANTICS OF THE NAMES OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE MONASTERY IN N. S. LESKOV’S NOVEL “NO WAY OUT”

Abstract.
This article is devoted to the analysis of the anthroponyms of the residents of the monastery in N. S. Leskov’s novel “No Way Out”. These anthroponyms correspond to the Russian tradition of naming and they are socially colored. The considered onomastic units form the system, the connections of which involve in the internal organization of the text and the realization of intertextual relations of the novel. It is revealed that the names of these characters at the semantic-stylistic level realize the author's intention of the doom of the course of life by the example of the residents of the provincial monastery.
