Abstract.
The article considers the image of Moscow and means of its creation in the novel by B. Pasternak “Doctor Zhivago”. Special attention is paid to the mythology of the city, the analysis of topoi, metonymically presenting various socially-cultural aspects of the life of the city, and also means of overcoming of a seeming discreteness of narration and the creation of the image of a single space (“narrowness of a communicative row”). The address to the motive of the city animation allows revealing the community of the fates of the city and a man, their reciprocal assimilation.
